We water our logs with Oregon rain water every week in hot summer months. We have several 250 gallon rain tanks collecting water all year round from our hand-built water structure.
We use rainwater to conserve water but also to provide our mushroom logs with the most natural water we can. We water each log by hand so you know your log has been observed and loved! Rain water contains fewer salts, minerals, treatment chemicals or pharmaceuticals than our tap water. Even well water can contain minerals from the bedrock it comes from. Watering with rain water gives plants and fungi the most natural experience.
Saving rain water helps maintain healthy groundwater supplies. When we conserve rain water and spread it back into the environment we can not only water what’s above ground but replenish the life below.
